Twenty Years of Arts and Health

QUIRK-E joined eight other groups of Elders who cultivate vibrant health through creativity, with support from the Arts and Health program. The Roundhouse Community Centre showcased our fun and artistry during Seniors Week on May 29, 2026. In addition to performing, we displayed our work in an exhibition, and shared heartfelt conversations over dim sum lunch. Many cultures and languages were represented through their beading, embroidery, paintings, improv movement, theatre and tongue twisters. Quirk-e members and friends backed up Lorri Rudland as she read about Dana’s scary night alone in an excerpt from her recently published book, The Hunt on the Tundra.

We also delighted to a slide show of images from twenty years of Arts and Health, a program that has given QUIRK-E an annual opportunity to spread awareness of Queer Elders stories throughout the wider seniors’ community.

The Arts and Health Gala Exhibitions and lunches from previous years were highlighted in the 20th Anniversary slideshow.
