Glorious weather greeted high spirits for the thousands of folks celebrating at the Surrey Pride Festival on June 20, 2026 in the plaza outside Central City mall. QUIRK-E joined 60 other booths offering queer joy for all ages attending. Our rainbow gift bags, handmade bookmarks, slap bracelets and new QR codes were so popular that we gave out every one. Best of all, we had warm interactions with all kinds of people. The volunteers staffing Out on Campus (SFU), Out on the Shelves (Vancouver) and KPU Equity were delighted to receive QUIRK-E books to add to their libraries.

The Surrey Pride Festival was supported by numerous local organisations and elected officials. Mayor Brenda Locke said, “The 2SLGBTQ+ community is such a vital part of Surrey, your strength, your creativity, your leadership…you helped to shape this city, and that is so very important. We are stronger when we stand together in inclusion, when we make sure everyone, everyone feels welcome and knows that they belong.” (Surrey Leader Now). Deepest thanks to the Surrey Pride Society for bringing us together and proving again that love always wins.
