QUIRK-E scored with the skit, I’m a Hockey Fan and I’m OK, at our public reading at the Gibsons’ Library on Saturday June 13, 2026. Marsha Ablowitz led the skit in a glamorous silver-toned, long-haired wig. In the course of the skit, her character shed the wig as she made the switch from a closeted woman to a proud dyke. Additional players, Adriaan de Vries and Lorri Rudland, wore hockey jerseys and provided support for Marsha in the skit. The entire audience participated by reading the words as we sang. Their cheers and applause resounded as we finished. Ellen Wordsworth, Marsha Ablowitz, Adriaan de Vries, and Lorri Rudland read works. All received very positive feedback along with lots of interaction via questions and comments from the audience.
Here’s a letter of appreciation from Thea:
Hi all,
I was delighted to have been in the audience yesterday at Gibsons library for your event. Thank you so much for hopping on the ferry to come and visit us!
I’m still processing so much of what I heard. It all meant so much to me and I’m truly so grateful to you all.
I now look forward to working my way through reading and looking at all your pieces.
Aside from the Librarian hosting, I think I may have been the youngest attendee at 37 which I was kinda disappointed about – I definitely hoped more youth had attended.
I have so much I’d like to say and ask but I don’t want to bombard you so I think I can sum it up by one more big THANK YOU and I can only hope to be like you when I grow up 🥰
Rainbow high fives all round.
With love
Thea 💫
