Honouring the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia with 500 others on May15 at QMUNITY’s annual IDAHOBIT Breakfast was one very visible way to commit to the mutual support that sustains our 2SLGBTQIA+ community against the rising tide of hostility.
Now in its 18th year, this annual breakfast was a rallying point—spotlighting urgent issues, elevating lived experiences, and sparking real action to advance equity across British Columbia.
This year’s theme, Voices From the Field, shone a light on the courage, conviction, and leadership driving change in our communities. We heard from advocates, service providers, community organizers, and changemakers who are meeting this moment head-on and shaping a more just and inclusive future. We were excited to get an update on the new purpose built centre at 981 Davie Street that Qmunity will open in 2027. The building will also be the home of the Fuller-Findlay Housing Co-op named in honour of Janine Fuller and barbara findlay.

QUIRK-E joined the ballroom full of activists who connected across sectors, shared bold ideas, and recommitted to building a province where queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people can thrive. We were proud to take our place with leaders who understand that inclusion is not just a value, but a responsibility.
