We had a full house as we celebrated the renewal and rejuvenation of spring! We gathered at the annual Spring Fling event on April 3, 2025, at Creekside Community Centre. QUIRK-E members, Garth McIvor, Don Orr Martin and Lorri Rudland, performed stories highlighting experiences of joining Quirk-e, being gay in Winnipeg in 1968, visiting Palestine, and trying to save money on a funeral. We shared warm conversations, danced to music from Norine Braun and her band, and enjoyed lunch together. We had an opportunity to promote subscriptions to the QUIRK-E website, and to connect with groups supporting queer elders such as: Dignity Seniors Society https://www.dignityseniors.org/#gsc.tab=0, Rainbow Wisdom Café https://route65.ca/news/embracing-inclusivity-the-launch-of-the-rainbow-wisdom-cafe-for-lgbtqia-seniors-at-little-mountain-neighborhood-house/, HIM https://him-bc.janeapp.com/, and SAIGE Community Food Bank https://saigecommunityfoodbank.com/. |
