Lively conversation followed heartfelt stories shared by Val Innes, Don Orr Martin, Adriaan DeVries and Farren Gillespie on Friday October 17, 2025 at Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House during QUIRK-E’s visit with the active seniors of their advisory committee.
Val’s story reminded us about experiences of moving to a new country and new culture, while leaving behind family and familiar surroundings. Adriaan wrote about kindness and we realized that times of isolation, loneliness and feeling different were common to many of us. Don’s writing lead us to share about physical activities we love that keep us vibrant and healthy. Farren’s work touched on how to take traditions and celebrations and make them our own, even in far away places.
We happily exchanged handcrafted bookmarks with our quirk-e web address and in turn, received lovely books of images and writing created by Frog Hollow youth and seniors. Thanks so much to Gloria Tsui for bringing us together!
