Since the fall of 2017, Quirk-e has managed itself as a collective. From its start in 2006 until 2017, Quirk-e was under the artist direction of Claire Robson and became part of Senior Arts and Health program of the Vancouver Parks Board. Artistic leadership and operational recommendations now are delegated to the collective’s Coordinating Committee, originally with five members, then expanded to seven members by 2021. Committee members have professional backgrounds in writing, teaching, design, performance, project management, and organizational support. While the committee makes recommendations on activities and policies, final decisions are discussed and made by consensus of the whole collective membership.
The Coordinating Committee facilitates the planning of an annual activity focus, rotates the weekly chore of creating an agenda and running meetings, and performs other necessary administrative duties. These duties include bookkeeping, arranging performances and travel, planning workshops, corresponding with partner groups and other organizations, and reviewing membership applications. The Coordinating Committee meets once a month, more often if necessary. Its two-hour meetings are open to all Quirk-e members.
