Journeys of Courage

Past Event

Mel Lehan Hall (formerly St. James Hall)

Join us for a celebration of the work of Chris Morrissey and Rainbow Refugee. For over 25 years, Chris, who recently received the Order of Canada, has  supported those facing discrimination because of their gender and sexual identities by facilitating their entry and integration into our country.  At this event, we’ll hear all about three courageous journeys – Olga and Natasha who came to us from Russia, Hana and Eri, from Japan, and Chris herself, who changed the immigration laws for all with her landmark struggle for gay rights in 1989.

The evening includes show stopping entertainment, a cash bar, a Silent Auction, and dancing to a Golden Playlist created just for you by well-known DJ Jakki Hope.

Tickets are on a sliding scale and we do expect this one time only event to sell out quickly.

Please consider making a donation to our current cause – a mission to bring a family of seven Afghan activists to Vancouver. They have actively protested for the rights of women and girls and now their lives are in daily danger. Please help us bring them to safety. You can donate when you buy your tickets.

Breaking News! Additions to our line up now include belly dancer Dem Ishtar, and Singer, Dancer, Actor, Cru Alexander Timi (C.A.T.)
