Annie Newman

Annie Newman

Annie Newman was born in Perth, Ottawa Valley, Ontario. She was brought up from a young age of three in Vancouver, with her two sisters. Her mom and dad started their portrait studio in Eastern Canada before coming out West.

Annie knew from a young age that she wanted to work with people and she has had a rich career as a mental health therapist for over 40 years. She developed a keen interest in the ways of the human heart as a result of listening to people in need. It led her to wanting to write. Human beings are complex, moving, and worth writing about!

Travelling has always been a passion and an educator for Annie, teaching, up close and personal, how people from other cultures and levels of opportunity make their way. Annie is retired now, and finds Quirk-e a valuable way to give back to the community. Writing as a form of activism! By telling her queer story, and sharing other 2SLGBTQQIA+ experiences that have inspired her, she feels like she is giving back.
