On April 14, 2025 our dear friend and chosen family member Chris Morrissey passed away. To describe her legacy of social justice and community creation as immeasurable barely scratches the surface. One of the many important and successful community organizations she founded was our own group QUIRK-E and we are proud to continue her legacy into the future! Today, QUIRK-E members remember her kindness, her relentless energy for social change and her ability to keep smiling into even the biggest challenges.
Our grief joins that of thousands of people whose lives are better because of her commitment and leadership.
We’re pleased to share a number of tributes release this week including one by CBC that celebrates Chris’ accomplishments and also talks about her beloved partner, Bridget. We kindly note that Bridget was Irish, not American as described in the video.
On Thursday, April 17, 2025, Chris Morrissey was remembered by Hon. Spencer Chandra Herbert, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport at the Legislature of British Columbia.
