Anthology Volume 3 was edited by Wayson Choy. The Queer Imaging and Riting Kollective for Elders is one of four groups of Vancouver seniors and numerous artists engaged in the Arts, Health and Seniors Project. All four projects engage seniors and artists in the joint creation of artworks over a period of three years. Research strategies attached to the project by the University of British Columbia will document the value of this involvement for seniors and their communities.
Review:
Wayson Choy, author of The Jade Peony, says
“Onwards!
After the success of the first anthology – selling out two editions, a volume celebrated in a gallery showing of the authors photographs – this new collection clearly deserves as much attention and praise.
Here are stories turned into poetry, into scripts to be performed, into vivid tales and challenging essays. Each piece involves some personal risk, for each writer was required to explore and expose their sense of what has been true and meaningful to their coming to terms with living independently as a person of worth.
These pieces are alive with touching, intimate details, some with a heightened confessional tone. All remind one of how ultimately necessary it is to tell your story and be truly heard.”
