Her card art is a labour of love
Cyndia Cole creates beautiful cards and envelopes from old calendars and craft supplies. They are unique and collectible. Her handcrafted cards and bookmarks also support the work of Quirk-e by serving as personalized “thank you” notes to supporters and sponsors and as promotional tools for our events and collective works.
Card Art
by Cyndia Cole
My card art is
From the heart
To do my part,
Like a dart
Through snail mail
Slow and smart.
Caring, sharing, marrying
The beautiful and old
For those lonely
And in the cold
Words that are warm
A shield against the harm
Of scrolling feeds
And trolling seeds
Like toxic weeds.
Instead, a garden that grows and grows
With rows and rows
Of flowers and bowers of praise.
Showing that we can raise
From hell and hunger and greed
To a kind and generous creed
Be spirits that merit best deeds.
Each card is a kiss
Sweet on the cheek
That can’t miss
To lighten and brighten
Those fightin’ a
Pandemic of isolation
Violence and desolation
Not just far away,
But close by, here, today.
Art cards are old calendars, paper and tape,
Not a superhero in a cape
And yet, each has power
To replace the glower
With smiles across miles
Piles made from old files
Some glimmer, some shimmer
For her or for him or
For them who won’t be dimmer
It’s done one by one
For my pleasure
Shows that I treasure
You and you
And you and you, too
My card from my heart
Is my part, just a start,
To rise above with love
To show that hope is dope
To make peace that won’t cease.
