Zoom Recordings
In 2020 Quirk-e shifted from in-person meetings to weekly sessions on Zoom. This reduced our risk of exposure to Covid and increased attendance for those with disabilities who had difficulty travelling. We have used Zoom recordings in a number of ways, from book blurbs to play readings. In months with five Wednesdays we often schedule skill-buiding workshops led by Vancouver writers, artists, storytellers, and videographers.
Book Launch Promo
In 2020, Quirk-e published our eighth anthology Together We Stand: Queer Elders Speak Out. This short Zoom video was used to promote our book at various online events during the Covid lockdown.
I Am Hungry For . . .
Community Centres in Vancouver that participate in Senior Arts & Health did a video project in 2021 instead of the annual live Showcase event. Each group chose how they would express a response to the prompt “I am hungry for . . .” Quirk-e made a short video on Zoom which was shared with the other healthy aging groups around the city.
