Memories, Dreams, Fears and Hopes2024

Quirk-e collected pieces from our members and our community that give voice to the hopes and dreams and some of the fears we have in our queer lives or for the world in 2024. We elders have lifetimes of experience to draw on–all the ages we have ever been still live inside us in vivid colours.

Shining a Light on Rainbow Life – 2023

This zine spotlights what is relevant to us, past or present, through the written word and evocative images. The writing includes various styles–poetry, memoir, interview, art, and fiction. Because Quirk-e is composed of queer people who are dedicated to social justice and activism, the content reflects this. The zine holds a light to the often mundane realities of living and our genuine humanity. It also includes current events and community resources.

Pride and Joy – 2023

Joy in our rainbow lives and the importance of the Pride Movement inspired this edition. There is creative writing,  historic contexts, funny, poignant and painful memoir.  Beginning in this issue showcasing a life of distinction takes pride of place in the centrefold. There are important pioneers of the community with her-stories, his-stories and queer-stories that demand recognition. There are organization links and a way to donate to helping queer refugees.

We’re Queer and We’re Still Here! Aging With Pride and Still Speaking Up – 2022

In this Zine the issues that matter prompted pieces on Climate Change, war, pride, elder abuse but also allowed for memoirs needing to be voiced and history that mustn’t be forgotten. There is also info on how to connect with Queer organizations.

Fighting Racism from a Queer Perspective – 2021

Being activists and advocates for building a society of equality and justice, we produced this Zine in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, the heartbreaking disclosure of unmarked graves at residential schools, and the Asian bashing spurred on by Covid. There are pieces of exposition, memoir, many book reviews, and additional resources.

Queering COVID – 2020

This edition contains 21 pieces by Quirk-e members and few other pieces by guest contributors from our community. It encapsulates our queer and senior realities getting through the pandemic. We managed to keep our community strong with compassion, sharing info, and no shortage of humour.

This Patch of Grass on Which I Stand – 2018

This Zine was produced by the Memoir Group and features 9 pieces by 8 quirk-es. There are memories of lovers, places, the inability to be one’s true self, great loss and a group where support was found.
